This term the children will be participating in gymnastics lessons every Wednesday and Dance lessons every Thursday. Our gymnastics lessons will involve travelling, balancing and rolling before moving on to using equipment such as balance tables, benches and balance beams. We will aim to see an improvement in the children's balance and control, turn-taking and teamwork, something that is really important when playing any sport.
The dance lessons on Thursdays will be taught by a qualified dance teacher.
This term the children are really enjoying taking part in rugby lessons on a Friday. We will be learning how to run, find space and hold a rugby ball correctly. Following that, we will look to run with, catch and pass a rugby ball successfully. We will then learn about match tactics in rugby, how to attack and defend well before playing tag rugby in the final few weeks. Throughout this topic, the children are expected to deepen their understanding of the rules of rugby and play games to a high standard.
Teamwork and good sportsmanship will also be a key part of our lessons as we look to further develop an understanding of what it means to be part of a team and how to play fairly at all times.
Mrs Standing will be teaching the children PE on a Wednesday afternoon.
