Y5 Girls Football Tournament

On Thursday 26th April, ten Year 5 girls represented our school in a football competition at Ruskin Drive Football Centre in St Helens. There were numerous other schools from the area involved and all of the children really enjoyed the opportunity to play against other teams. The girls were a credit to Holy Spirit as they played very well, gaining more confidence with each game that they played. Most importantly, all of the children played as a team and enjoyed participating in a football tournament for the very first time. Well done to everybody involved!

Year 3/4 Gymnastics Competition

On Monday 5th March, five children from years 3 and 4 were selected to take part in a gymnastics competition at St Helens Gymnastics Centre. We competed as a team against other schools from across St Helens. The children had to complete a floor routine, body management exercises and then the vault. The children only had one practise on the day before performing for a judge, who scored them. All of the children really enjoyed the opportunity to represent Holy Spirit and were a credit to our school. Unfortunately we missed out on a place in the next round, but the group gave their best and we are all very proud. Well done to all of the children involved!

KS2 Boccia Competition

On Tuesday 21st November, six children from across KS2 were selected to take part in a Boccia competition at Lansbury Bridge school. Boccia is a precision ball sport very similar to bowls; the children had to throw balls at a small white ball in a court, the ball that was the closest to the white ball at the end of all the throws was the winner. We played as a team against other schools from across St Helens. All of the children really enjoyed the opportunity to represent Holy Spirit and were a credit to our school, just missing out on a semi-final place. Well done to all the children involved!

Parkour and Break-dancing Workshop

On Tuesday 7th November, our Year 6 children were given the opportunity to participate in a parkour (free-running) and break-dancing workshop free of charge. Two trained teachers came into school and the class were split into two groups; one began with parkour and one began with break-dancing before they swapped over. The children had a great time learning all of the different skills involved and really learnt a lot from the experience.

Y6 Girls Football Tournament

On Thursday 19th October, ten Year 6 girls represented our school in a football competition at Ruskin Drive Football Centre in St Helens. There were numerous other schools from the area involved and all of the children really enjoyed the opportunity to play against other teams. The girls were a credit to Holy Spirit as they played extremely well, as a team and with a smile on their faces. Well done everybody involved!

Y6 Saints Rugby Coaching

During the last half term, our Year 6 class have been rugby sessions ran by two coaches from Saints. In these sessions the children have developed their basic rugby skills such as passing, tackling, sidestepping, agility and catching. All of the children have really enjoyed these lessons and have demonstrated lots of the key skills expected of them! Below are some photographs from the session that focused specifically on tackling and then catching the high ball.

Holy Spirit Sports Day 2017

On Monday 3rd July we held our annual School Sports Day. It was a fantastic day for everyone involved and it was lovely to see so many of you there supporting your children and our school. All the children gave their very best and thoroughly enjoyed the wide variety of races.

As is tradition, the four house teams in school (St George, St David, St Patrick and St Andrew) all competed in hope that they would be crowned winners and claim our school trophy. The trophy is awarded to the team who accumulates the most points. After all of the races were completed, the scores were counted and St David came out victorious in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2! The scores were very close and all of the children should be incredibly proud of themselves for their amazing effort, behaviour and excellent team spirit demonstrated throughout the sports day. Well done everybody!

Children's university 2016

On the 23rd March, the staff and children of Holy Spirit had a fantastic day in Liverpool celebrating the success of our children's after school commitments by attending the annual children's university graduation. All of the children looked amazing in their cap and gown and as usual were praised for the fantastic behavior and manners.

Since the start of children's university in 2014, we have seen the amount of children taking part and graduating more than double, with one of our pupils achieving the gold award!

This is a fantastic programme for children to be a part of so start collecting your hours now!!
