Curriculum

At Holy Spirit, we provide a warm and welcoming environment where we care and nurture and ensure that all children are safe. After love the next best thing we can give our children is self confidence. The effects of having a positive self- image, high levels of self-esteem can never be underestimated and it is my aim to ensure that all the children at Holy Spirit believe in themselves and know they can be whatever they want to be. Through a rich and vibrant curriculum, underpinned by real life experiences, we aim to make Holy Spirit a fun and exciting place to be where every one can be the very best they can be.

We plan our curriculum to include all the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, National Curriculum and the Archdiocese programme for Religious Education where knowledge and skills build upon prior learning and provide progression of skills.

We constantly strive to provide enhancement opportunities to engage learning, both in the classroom, our school garden, woodland area and beyond. A wide range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities enrich the opportunities for our children.

At Holy Spirit we recognise our duties regarding equality and inclusion for individual disabled children under the Equality Act 2010. We make reasonable adjustments, including the provision of auxiliary aids and services for disabled children to prevent them being put at significant advantage. We also recognise that these are anticipatory duties and strive to make arrangements in advance to prevent disadvantage. It is important to foster good relations and promote equality of opportunity generally so that barriers to learning are removed.

Children are encouraged to participate fully in the life of the school. This includes extracurricular clubs and activities where the SENCO monitors the attendance of those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to ensure that there is good representative participation from these groups.
