Year 4 is such a wonderful year and we are really looking forward to our new learning and exciting times to come.  We are building on all of our previous learning in Year 3 and will have lots of fun along the way. We love sharing our work with you as we continue through our busy year. Make sure you check out our webpage and Instagram for regular updates and new pictures of your child's learning. From making electrical circuits in Science to creating Festival Feasts with clay, our learning is always interesting!

Times tables MTC June 2025

We are worikng hard in class to ensure we are ready for the Multiplication Test Check in June 2025. This is an online test which children complete in school. Our children will have lots of practice beforehand and there's no time like the present to start practicing those times tables skills.

Spellings

We will also send home spellings on a Monday for a spelling test on the following Friday. If your child doesn't do as well as we know they can with their spellings, they will be retested to ensure we bridge any learning gaps.  Please help them to practice their spellings as this greatly improves their understanding of vocabulary.

PE

During Summer term we have swimming on a Monday afternoon, please ensure your child has their swimming kit in school on that day. We will be swimming at Newton Fitness each Monday until we break up in July.  We also have outdoor PE on a Thursday. Please ensure that your child has full school PE kit on a Thursday and as the weather is warmer, a sun hat and a water bottle too.

Reading

We love visiting our school library each week and choosing our Favourite 5 reads!

Bookies and Cookies

National Poetry Day

We're improving our oracy skills - celebrating National Poetry Day, we recited a poem written by Paul Delaney.

Picture News

In our Picture News we learned that we are all individual, here we have talked about what is important to us.

Music

PAThS

As part of our daily practice, we celebrate all the wonderful things about each other with our PAThS Pupil of the Day!

We give our POTD compliments - this could be something they're good at, something we like about their appearance or something about their character.

Our POTD is encouraged to give their self a compliment and this is taken home for a compliment to be given at home too. #PAThS #PSHE

Design and Technology

P.E.

We love our PE lessons, learning how to pass the ball and focus on throwing and catching to eventually play handball successfully.

Spanish

In Spanish we learned a song about body parts... its a catchy tune!

Protected Characteristics

As part of our Protected Characteristics learning in PSHE, we have shared the story, My beautiful Voice, which is a moving, lyrical picture book about a shy child unlocking the power of their own voice through poetry, with the helping hand of an extra special teacher. John 1:12 tells us 'I am a child of God' - all our voices can be powerful and beautiful, however small.

Science

Prayer and Liturgy

We love singing at the beginning Prayer and Liturgy...

Humanities

History

We have enjoyed using our knowledge box to research the Ancient Greeks.

Geography

Maths

In Maths we are learning how to solve difficult questions. Here we are modelling how to exchange in subtraction when necessary.

We enjoy learning our times tables in many different ways. Singing our times tables helps us retain that learning!
