Year 1 is an amazing year and we can't wait to share it with your child! In Year 1 your child will be making the exciting transition from Early Years to Key Stage One. Our mornings will gradually become more structured with daily Maths, English, Guided reading and Phonics sessions. Phonics is a key element of Year 1 life, and we practise regularly to ensure all our children are equipped to decode and blend words. Our aim is to ensure all children reach their full potential and develop a love of learning. This involves building a curriculum that suits each child in our class. Our foundation subjects are in the afternoons and we plan to ensure they are fun, inspiring and engaging to find out what we are learning please read our curriculum overview.

Year 1 To Know You More Clearly

Branch 1 Creation & Covenant

The Story of Creation

In the beginning, when God created the universe, the earth was formless and desolate. The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness, and the Spirit of God was moving over the water. Then God commanded, “Let there be light”—and light appeared.  God was pleased with what he saw.

Then God commanded, “Let the earth produce all kinds of animal life: domestic and wild, large and small”—and it was done.  So God made them all, and he was pleased with what he saw.

Then God said, “And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us. They will have power over the fish, the birds, and all animals, domestic and wild, large and small.” .

What has God made for us?”

Today we went outside to find out .......

Praying is a way people draw closer to God.

Year 1 have been busy thinking about where they feel closer to God.

Meeting our Year 6 Buddies who will be a great help to us all this year throughout Year 1!

We are so lucky to be learning Spanish in Year 1. I am sure you will agree that they are developing brilliantly.
